Create Your Own Page Templates

There are two ways to set up templates that will pre-populate certain pages as they are created.

Method 1: In any wikigroup, create a page named ‘Template’.

Thereafter, the contents of that page will be used to generate the pre-filled, default (but removable) contents of any new page created in that wikigroup.

Method 1 example: Create Profiles/Template, and on it list the kinds of information that users of your website might want to make available about themselves.

Thereafter, any new Profile page will be pre-populated with that text. The pre-populating text is added only at the time of the page’s creation, and can be removed by the user whenever he/she likes.

Method 2: In this ‘Templates’ wikigroup, create a page with a name in the format ‘SomethingTemplate’.

Then the contents of that page will be used to generate the pre-filled, default (but removable) contents of any new page named ‘Something’ created in any wikigroup for which Method 1, above, has not been employed.

Method 2 example: Create Templates/HomePageTemplate, and Templates/GroupFooterTemplate. Put text and/or wikicode on them that is appropriate to the HomePages and GroupFooters of wikigroups.

Whenever the HomePage and GroupFooter of a new wikigroup are subsequently created, those pages will be pre-populated with that text and/or code. The pre-populating material is added only at the time when the page is created, and can be edited or removed.
